Abstract

The present investigation was carried out during three successive seasons (2000, 2001 and 2002) on 5yearold apple trees cv. Anna (Malus domestica, Borkh) grafted on MM 106 rootstock. The first season was considered as primary experiment, while the second and third seasons were the real ones and their data were the considerable results of this study. Trees were grown at 4 x 3 m apart in clay loam soil (under surface irrigation system) in a private orchard at Menyate Sammanode center near Mansoura city, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt. They received the common management as recommended by the Ministry of Agricultural in that district. * This study revealed the following results : among the tested N fertilizing programmes in this study the recommended one for Anna apple trees grown on clay loam soil is that included FYM inoculated with N biofertilizers tested and combined with mineral N fertilizers at 60 N unit/fed. It was the best one that contained N sources greatly meet the N requirements of the tree, improve fruits yield either per tree or feddan and fruit quality. The applied mineral N unit fertilizers in this combination at 60 N unit/fed, comparing with that of 80 N unit/fed. N fertilizing programmes of organic fertilizers (TR) inoculated with or without N biofertilizers plus mineral N fertilizers at 20 or 40 N unit/fed are not preferable to fertilize Anna apple trees. These three N sources individually and in combinations caused a decreased on yield and most physical and chemical characteristics of the yielded fruits. The inferiority in that respect was to 20 N unit/fed used. It is important to record herein that the expected currency income from using N organic fertilizers in Anna apple plantations may reach an economic level of 100% income return and it may get a lower value. This will be acceptable and much better than using N nonorganic sources. In this case, it can be avoided the harmful side effects on the consumers health from applying the later N sources. Therefore, it can be protected them by eating safe and healthy Anna apple fruits.
