Abstract
The major aim of this investigation was to : 1)Describe the rate of biological nitrogen fixation in a Mediterranean coastal water (Alexandria). 2)Determine the population density of the nitrogen fixing organisms. 3)To investigate qualitative and quantitative distribution of these organisms bacteria and cyanobacteria. 4)To study the relationship between the biological, physical and chemical parameters with nitrogen fixation rate.
