Abstract Two field experiments were conducted at a private farm in El-Mataryia region, Dakahlia Governorate during the two successive winter growing seasons of 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 to study the effect of Gibberellic acid (GA3), chemical and organic fertilization as well as their interactions on vegetative growth, yield and its components, chemical constituents and storability of garlic crop. •The most important results obtained from this investigation can be summarized as follows: The interaction between GA3 application and fertilization treatments were reduced weight loss percentage in garlic bulbs during the storage period (six months) in both seasons of this investigation. The lowest values of total weight loss percentage were obtained by 50 % C.F. + 50 % FYM with GA3 application. While, the highest values of total weight loss percentage were resulted from using 100 % FYM without GA3 application, in both seasons of this research. from obtained data in this study, it could be recommended that treated garlic bulb with GA3 and applying 50 % C.F. + 50 % FYM in order to enhancement vegetative growth characters and maximizing total garlic yield and bulb diameter as well as storability characters. Also, it could be recommended that using 100 % FYM only without GA3 application to produce the lowest values NO3 and NO2 in total garlic yield compared with other fertilization treatments in order to maintain human health as well as reduce sources of environmental pollution and exportation |
