Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess whether intraperitoneal administration of analgesia is practical or not, moreover the efficacy of perioperative administration of NSAIDs namely tenoxicam whether intravenous or intraperitoneal was studied, depending on the fact that laparoscopic postoperative pain is rather visceral in origin. In addition this research aimed at measuring the duration of postoperative analgesia, postoperative analgesic consumption, and pain scores in VAS after intraperitoneal administration of tenoxicam. Intraperitoneal administration of Tenoxicam is more potent than intravenous administration because it produced remarkable postoperative analgesia in laparoscopic gynecological surgery, it improved the quality of postoperative analgesia, reduced pain scores, prolonged the duration of postoperative analgesia, reduced postoperative opioid consumption, and stabilized postoperative stress in the form of reduced systolic, diastolic blood pressure and heart rate.
