Abstract Many aryl homocyclic and heterocyclic basic compounds are well known as nonantimonial schistosomicide! agents. Thiaxanthone derivatives, benzothiopyrano indazoles, niri-dazole and other analogues are potent antibilharzial agents. These compounds are characterized by essential features contributing the activity, i- the presence of a heterocyclic nucleus containing a sulphur atom, ii- the presence of a dinitrogenous moiety embedded in the whole molecule,iii- the presence of some groups or radicals which enhance the acti¬vity and modify the duration of the compound.Based on these prerequisites, certain series of comp¬ounds were designed and prepared herewith, containing thiophene or furan nucleus attached to a 2-pyrazoline or 2-pyridone ring.Returning back to the previous series of Schiff,s bases derived from N-(benzylidene or cinnamylidene)-l-naphthyl-amines which proved to possess great schistosomicide! acti¬vity, the synthesis of new series of Schiff’s bases was presented in this work, derived from the newly synthesized pyrazolines. |
