Abstract Wet granulation may be required to produce uniform colored tablets and tablets containing potent drugs in low dosage level with minimal intertablet variation. As most studies involving binders are concerned mainly with the properties of the tablets such as weight uniformity, mechanical strength and disintegration time a scant work was made for comparing the mechanical properties of the granules, the crushing force of the tablet and the compression behaviour. Thus, the object of this investigation was to study the influence of binders on the physical characters and tablet properties of certain commonly used diluents and drugs such as sulfadiazine and phenazopyridine hydrochloride. To fulfill this goal, the work in the thesis embraces the following : Part I : Effect of binders on granules and tabletsproperties of certain diluents. |
