Abstract The goal of the present work is to prepare an ecofriendly catalyst used in green chemistry and can applied in economic reactions. The esterification reaction of acetic acid with amyl alcohol is one of the most important reactions. The activity and selectivity of cesium-substituted phosphomolybdic acid (Cs3H3-xPMo12O40), silica supported phosphomolybdic acid (H3PMo12O40/silica), and silica supported cesium salt of phosphomolybdic acid (Cs3H3-xPMo12O40/silica) are investigated. The roles of the different factors as calcination temperature, reaction temperature and metal content of the catalysts; molar ratio of the reactant; and feed volume of reactant to catalyst used in investigating the catalytic activity. The structural properties of the catalyst have been investigated using thermal analysis, X-ray and FT-IR techniques. The textural properties have been determined using low temperature nitrogen adsorption and SEM-EDX techniques. Different methods have been used to determine the acidic properties of the catalysts. The kinetic of esterification of amyl alcohol with acetic acid was studied. |
