Abstract Introduction: Neonatal infections are responsible for a high hospital admission rate of neonates and for prolonged hospitalization of those admitted to neonatal intensive care units. Earlier diagnosis should improve the outcome of this potentially catastrophic illness. In practice, clinical signs and laboratory data have not been perceived as sensitive or specific for early stages of sepsis. Aim of the work: to highligten neonatal sepsis and its rapid diagnostic tools. To fulfill this aim , this study is designed to achieve the following Objectives :-1-To be able to define neonatal sepsis , pathogenesis, aetiology, symptoms and signs .2- To outline some clinical aspects of the - prevention and treatment - prognosis and outcome .3-Early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.4- laboratory challange in diagnosis of neonatal sepsis. Summary of the assay: The first chapter included an overview of the definition of neonatal sepsis and related concepts(causes-pathogenesis-signs-complications-treatment). The second chapter included early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis using many markers with diffrent laboratory methods and the laboratory challange that occure during it.What is the ideal marker for early diagnosis? Finally we tried to find answers to the following questions: 1-definition of neonatal sepsis? 2-what are the markers with very high sensitivity and high specificity? 3-Can early detection of neonatal sepsis be useful in treatment and whether it can be used as way of prevention? 4-what is the ideal diagnostic marker and the challenge of diagnosing sepsis. |
