Abstract Certain rosaceaus taxa were comprehensively investigated morphologically and anatomically with respect to vegetative as well as reproductive organs. characters studied were classified into qualitative or two-state, multi-state and quantitative characters. Three from the investigated species belong to three subfamilies without taxonomic argument regarding their affinity with rosaceae, and compared with neurada procumbens which belongs to the subfamily neuradoideae, of suspected alliance with other rosaceous plants. The results and their interpretations could be summarized under the following headings : 1- Morphological characters : 1.1- The pyroid representative was diagnosed by valvate sepals in bud, epigynous flowers, imbricate ascending corolla aestivation, glabrous style, branched style, 5-carpellary gynoecium, presence of 6 vein orders and AR type of tertiary vein’s angle of origin on the secondaries. 1.2- The prunoid representative was characterized by unicarpellary gynoecium and OR type of tertiary vein’s angle of origin. 1.3- The rosoid representative was diagnosed by presence of prichles on stem and leaf petiole. |
