Abstract The aim of this research was to study the effect of three planting methods in producing a tomato crop for overcoming the shortage which takes place in inter season between the late winter and early summer. Two experiments were carried out at Dokki farm for two consecutive years 76 - 1977 and 77 - 1978. Three varieties were selected for the study namely Marmande. Early pak 9 and Grand pak. They were planted in the 15 th and 30 of November in the first season and the 1Bt and 15 th of November in the second season. At each of these dates, three planting methods were followed. They were direct seeding in the field, seeds grown in paper pots and transplanting in the field when seedling reaohed flowering. Both methods were compared to the traditional method of the transplanting with nursery grown seedling. The experiment was designed as a split plot. |
