Abstract

Correct application of water in terms of quantity and timing has a major on the crop and its economic feasibility.
This work was conducted at El-Bustan research station, Nobaria sector, Abdel-Monem Rayad village. Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
The present work aims at :
1-Estimate irrigation water requirements and determine an irrigation scheduling for maize and Faba.
2-Improving in irrigation efficiency.
3-Select the proper irrigation system for maize and faba bean production.
4-Study the effect of the two selected soil conditioners on the efficiency of irrigation systems.
5-To evaluate the potential for production high-value maize and faba bean crops under the studied treatments.
6-Reduce investment costs of drip irrigation system.
Two field experiments for faba ( Giza Blanca) and maize (single cross No. 10 ) were conducted in sandy soil during winter season of 1998 and summer season of 1999 under the conditions of surface drip 0.75 and 1.25 m drip line spacing sub-surface drip of 0.75 and 1.25 m drip line spacing and permanent sprinkler irrigation systems. The experiments were laid in split-split plot design and included 12 treatments which were the combination of to irrigation interval, two irrigation quantity (100 ETc, and 80 Etc) three soil conditioners treatments (control+ polymer and + manure ).
