Abstract The present work is assigned to study the corrosion behavior of type 304 stainless steel in hydrochloric acid solution and the inhibiting effect of some organic compounds. The obtained results showed that the inhibition efficiency of these derivatives increased by increasing their concentration and decreased by raising the temperature, so that the adsorption of these derivatives is physical adsorption and follow Langmuir’s isotherm. The inhibition efficiencies also increased by addition of potassium iodide. Some thermodynamic parameters are computed and discussed. Six different methods were used during the study which are: weight - loss method, potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, electrochemical frequency modulation, pitting corrosion polarization and Some quantum – chemical quantities were calculated also the influence of chemical structure of these compounds on their inhibition efficiencies was discussed. |
