Abstract Studies were c a r r i e d out in the present work on immunological and serological characteristics of some pathogenic and non-pathogenic isolste s of -S . s c a b i e s b a c t e r i a causing the scab disease of Results obtained i n t h i s work can be sumaarized as follows: 1. Five i s o l a t e s of -S. s c a b i e s were i s o l a t e d from differerent places i n Egypt from diseased potato tubers, and they showed v a r i a t i o n i n t h e i r pathogenicity. One of s t r a i n s wan non-pathogen, while the others varied in the pnthogenicity from weak t o strong (surface ordeep scab). A l l i s o l a t e s showed the same physiological and biochemical c h a r a c t e r s known f o r -S. s c sbi e s . 2, The serological and immunoelectrophoretical techniques including; p r e c i p i t a t e ring t e s t , double g e l diffusion t e s t and crossed imrnunoelectrophoresis (CIE) including CIE, CIE w i t h an intermediate g e l and CIE w i t h antibodies absorption -i n -sit u were used i n t h e s e s t u d i e s and showed t h a t -S. s c a b i e s i s o l a t e s were serologic~lly distinguished. 3 . The ant igenic s t r u c t u r e s of -S. scabies i s o l a t e nos.1, 2,3,4 and 5 were 12. 13, 8, 14 md 15 antigens by using CIE and 2,5,3,5 and 6 by using double gel d i f f u s i o n t e s t , respectively (Table 5). |
