Abstract Parasitic diseases is one of the major limiting factors in fish culture. These diseases cause considerable losses in the food fish (industrial fish) supplies and morbidity and mortality among fishes in fish culture. Therefore, the present work was designed to throw light on some fish parasites on some Nile fishes. These parasites include protozoan and monogenean parasites, which are an ectoparasites on gills and skin of their hosts. The present thesis contains two parts. The first part include taxonomical investigation, while the second part includes ecological investigation. In taxonomical investigation 274 specimens of Clarias lazera and 223 specimens of Tilapia nilotica, were collected from River Nile branches, Tanta city. Fishes were transported alive to the laboratory. Fresh smears were prepared from skin and gills of fishes, to collect the protozoan parasites. In order to study details of the adhesive disc of protozoan parasites, the positive smear air dried before staining by silver nitrate (2%) and irradiated in sunlight until smear turn to Black. |
