Abstract The present study was carried out on two digenatic trematodes Calicophoron rnicrobothriurn, samples of which were collected from the rumen of cattle and Fasciola hepatica samples were collected from the bile ducts of the freshly slaugh-tered cattle. These worms were studied from the histological aspect using haematoxylin and eosin and trichrome stains and from the histochemical aspect including the demonestration of some enzymes in addition t.o non enzymatic components. Worms were examined for the presence of Acid phosphatase (ACP), Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), Succinic dehydrogenase (SDH) , Noii specific esterase (NSE) and Acetyl choline strerase (ACHE) as enzymatic component and glycogen, acid mucopolysaccharides , protein, nucleic acids (DNA, RNA), and lipids as noii enzymatic components. Phospatases (ALP and ACP). The present study demonestrated that phosphatases are of wide spread occurance in both trematodes. ACP exhibited activity in all organs studied in both worms while ALP exhibited moderate act.ivit.y in C. rr~icrobothr-ium and very weak activity in F. hepcrtica except for a moderate activity in the gut caeca. This may be explained by the fact that in relation to its body size. |
