Abstract

The aims of this thesis is :
1. Effect of some POPs and heavy metals on the performance of wastewater treatment plant.
2. Determination of some POPs and heavy metals through different stage.
3. Determination of some POPs and heavy metals in produced sludge that can be used soil as fertilizer.
4. Determination LC50 of wastewater on fish.
5. Assessment of their impact on fish physiology.
The study follwed the comparative study between the traditional and advanced treatment processes in efficiency removal of POPs.
The study reached serveral conclusions, including :
1. The wastewater influent of WWTP of 10 th of Ramadan city contains a high tocxi organic pollutants represented by COD, BOD, TSS, total nitrogin, phenol, oil and grease, phosphate and concentrations of POPs that is not omplying to the national environmental laws.
2. Wastewater with high tocxi organic loads affets the efficiency of treatment.
3. The efficiency of WWTP for removal of organic micropollutants was 80.21%, 84.6%, 67% and 64.34 for PAHs, n-alkane and OCPs and PCBs, respectively.
4. The Fenton oxidation was the most effective treatment for removal organic micropollutants. It can be used as pre-treatment process would increase the biodegradability and remove the toxicity of POPs.
