Abstract
The present study deals with the production of base oils for textile machines from three feedstocks of different boiling point range from Alexandria Petroleum Company. The three feedstocks were subjected to solvent refining process using N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone alone and its mixture with ethanolamine for finding the most suitable extraction conditions. The raffinates, under the most suitable conditions were solvent dewaxed under constant dewaxing conditions. Then the dewaxed oils were treated with adsorption technique or with oleum treatment followed by adsorption technique to produce finished base oils. Eight formulated blends were prepared by blending selective base oils. The base oils and blended ones were evaluated according to the standard specifications of the Egyptian Organization for Standardization (EOS) and Mobil Velocite Oil.
