Abstract

of ACEI drug was found. But there was negatively significant correlation between period of hemodialysis and Hb concentration 3 months after transplantation. This is followed by erythrocytosis (16%) and there was association between Hct% and serum EPO level 6 months after transplantation on one side and the degree of HLA matching on the other side. However, no association was found with other variables. Moreover, it was found that, the frequency of post-transplant erythrocytosis was higher in non-nephrectomized recipient than nephrectomized recipients. The less frequent changes were leukopenia (8%) and thrombocytopenia (4%).
// is concluded that:
1) Post-transplant persistent anemia is a frequent observation which is related neither to depletion of iron store nor to administration of ACEI drug but related to longer period of hemodialysis before transplantation. However, further investigations are required to find other aetiological causes.
2) Post-transplant erythrocytosis is a relatively frequent observation. Patients who have not undergone native nephrectomy, those with mode*tr4»e*©ase in endogenous EPO and those with high degree of HLA matching appear to be at increased risk for the development post-transplant erythrocytosis.
