Abstract Acute suppurative otitis media is a common infections disease in tlidhood and gives rise to serious medical and socioeconomic problems. Ie majority of patients, suffer from AOM before they reach school age and )ys appear to be affected more than girls. Several factors increasing the risk of AOM such as Day-car Centers hich provide a highly favourable environment for viruses to spread and msing infection, as regard to seasonal factor there are seasonal uctuation of AOM from a minimum frequency around midsummer to a aximum in early winter, respiratory viral infections also show similar (asonal fluctuation, prolonged breast-feeding has been found to protect gainst AOM, on the other hand mechanical factor associated with bottle- eding by cow’s milk increase risk of AOM, also many factors like lenoidal hypertrophy, allergic rhinitis, premature infants, congenital lomalies of the nose, nasopharynx and palate, parental smoking and sea- ithing increased risk of AOM. Bacteriological analysis show that the three major pathogens of AOM, , pneumonia, H. influemae and B. catarrhalis account for 75% to 90% of all fccteria cultured from the MEFs of AOM, and during the very early phase ^AOM, the MEE contains both serum antibodies originating from the serum SG, IgM and IgA) and antibodies specific to the above three major |thogens of AOM. i r After antimicrobial therapy had been introduced the mortality from |)M had been reduced by 85.4% and the complication frequency by 73.1 as Id early treatment by antibiotic might stop the development of fulminant |
