Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and accounts for 29 % of all cancers diagnosed each year. It is the overall second leading cause of cancer death in men but the first in women under the age of 55. In the United States, breast cancer in women increased by more than 40 % (from 82.6 in 1973 to 118.1 in 1998 per 100.000) (Howe et al., 2001).
Almost all of the increased (83%) incidence is accounted for by early diagnosis of in situ or invasive lesions less than 2 cm in diameter with screening mammograghy).
In Ain Shams University, (from 2002- 2006) breast cancer accounts for 27 % of all cancers. Surgery is usually the standard initial treatment. When breast cancer is detected at an early stage, breast-conserving treatment measures can be taken. This conservative care may involve the removal of just the tumor and some of the surrounding tissue (i.e., lumpectomy), or an entire quadrant of the breast may be removed with node dissection followed by radiation to Breast and lymph drainage.
Conventional radiation therapy after BCS consists of 5 weeks of daily External beam radiotherapy ( EBRT )
