Abstract The present thesis comprises three chapters. The first one includes a literature survey on the electrocllemistry of Sn-Ni alloy and structurally analogous systems. The anodic behavior and the pitting corrosion of Sn-Ni alloy in presence of different aggressive anions and mediums are discussed. Moreover, the effect of halide ions especially Cl~ anion on the breakdown and pitting of the passive film formed on Sn-Ni alloy anode surface was given. The introduction ends with the literature survey on the applications of Sn-Ni alloy in different fields. The second chapter is concerned with the experimental work, the electrodes (working electrode, counter electrode and reference electrode), electrolytic cell, solutions, procedures and instruments used in different parts of this thesis. The electrochemical techniques for investigation and characterization of Sn-Ni alloy were described. The third chapter contains the results and theii discussion. It is divided into three parts: 1. Electrochemical behavior of Sn-Ni rianostructured compound in solution and the effect of halide ions. fin-Nickel electrodeposits alloy of the approximate composition 34% Ni-66% for Tin (wt percent)can be obtained from the chloride-fluoride bath. |
