Abstract Some anionic and nonionic surface active agents were prepared and its physico-chemical properties were determined. Experiments were conducted to evaluate these prepared surfactants to use as alternatives instead of some conventional pesticides against sucking pierce pests infested common bean. The prepared surfactants proved high pesticidal efficiency against whitefly and spider mite. Also these surfactants used as adjuvants to improve the physico-chemical properties and pesticidal efficiency of insectisides: Dursban, Selecron and Lannate against cotton leafworm. Results obtained indicated that, the prepared surfactants reduced the surface tension of spray solution of pesticides, increased their toxicity against cotton leafworm and the effective dose could be reduced to 80% of the recommended rate. |
