he wide variety of the antioxidants present in our food has a powerful role in disease, prevention .The bulk of the research has focused on group of nutrients and antioxidants where they act in a synergistic action in order to alleviate the inflammatory conditions ’ involved in bronchial asthma pathogenesis and enhance the overall immune response of the whole body. These groups of nutrients and antioxidant have a pivotal role in prevention of , allergic episodes and maintenance of good health. The main aim of the present study was to assess the impact, of dietary regimen rich in antioxidants on the control of bronchial asthma in children, while the specific aim was to assess the nutritional status of asthmatic children, and to test the effect of dietary antioxidants on the control of frequency and severity of bronchial asthma attacks. This study was conducted in the allergy clinic of Student Health Insurance Hospital (Sporting) in Alexandria. From the attendants of the clinic, 220 asthmatic children were randomly selected to ’ participate in the study. They were equally divided into intervention and control group. Our current study highlighted on the primary school children aged between 6-12 years; ’Recently diagnosed cases (within the last two years) with mild to moderate bronchial asthma Were chosen to comply the regimen. Field study period lasted 9 months. All subjects were interviewed to answer a structured questionnaire, which included information on personal and family characteristics, family history of asthma whether 1 st or 2nd relation, environmental characteristics, history of infant feeding pattern. All asthmatic children were subjected to clinical examination were recording of the symptoms that occurred during the last’ period was done. Also Anthropometric measurements were done including weight, height and body mass index calculation. All subjects were also interviewed to answer a pre-designed food frequency questionnaire. It included data about the different food groups including intake of risky and protective food as well as 24 hour dietary recall method B-Follow up study: Every child in the intervention group was given his dietary regimen and recording the clinical score of asthma symptoms in every visit. The second (control) group was maintained on the routine management of the allergy clinic. Both groups were examined at the end of the study for clinical score of asthma. Data management and Statistical Analysis: Mean score of asthma was computed as well as Relation of the adequacy of nutrient intake with asthma score.
