Abstract Evaluating and monitoring nutritional status is a fundamental component of providing nutritional care to patients with renal disease. Nutritional assessment procedures include methods to detect, diagnose, characterize, and classify deficiencies and to predict the outcome. Optimal protocol to use, in a predictive, reliable, and sensitive manner for patients with kidney disease has not been identified, in part because of a variety of metabolic, anthropometric, and biochemical abnormalities that accompany the uremic state. Therefore, many indices, each represent a specific data category, are measured independently then evaluated collectively to ascertain the nutritional status of the patient. |
