Abstract The present investigation aims to study monthly, seasonal variations in semen quality of ossimi rams believed to be adapted to Egyptian environmental conditions. Cu-16, CUE and skim milk are used as diluents to test their suitability for ram semen preservation at 5c storage temperature. It is concluded that high environmental temperature during summer results in lower semen quality and inhibits sexual desire of ossimi rams as they exhibit higher body temperatures, respiration and pulse rates as compared with other seasons of the year. Cu-16 and CUE are of good keeping quality for extended ram sperm and can be successfully used in practice especially during the first three days of storage at 5c. |
