Abstract

This thesis is concerned with the determination of some antihypertensive ACE Inhibitors, namely, captopril, enalapril, ramipril, benazepril, Perindopril, and fosinopril in tablets formulations either present alone or in combination with hydrochlorhiazide. the study consosts of five parts.
First Part:
General introduction about the history, structural formulae, pharmacological actions, therapeutic properties, and the reported methods for their analysis.
Second part :
This part includes , a spectrophotometric determination of captopril and lisinopril & spectrofluorimetric for captopril through isoindole formation with O-phthaldehyde in alkaline medium. Third part : this part describes a colorimetric procedure for determination of captopril through reducation of cyclic colorless tetrazolium salts ( tetrazolium red, and tetrazolium blue) into colored formazan in strongly alkaline medium. Fourth part : this part contains a colorimetric procedure for determination of enalapril, ramipril, benazepril, and perindopril through ion pair complex formation with mentanil yellow at the proper Ph,s and extraction into methylene chloride. the sensitivity has been increased by acidification of the methylene chloride extract by acidified ethanol. Fifth part: this part describes an HPLC method for determination of mixtures of fosinopril and hydrochlorothiazide in the presence of some of fosinopril manufacturing impurities.
