Abstract The present study investigated the role that different types of connectives play in facilitating ESL learners reading comprehension of the study tacked only two types of text narrative and expository texts each text had two versions aconnective present and aconnective absent version the cohort of the study was 60 subjects divided into two groups thirty subjects as experimental group and 30 as control group involved in two experiments one was concerned with narrative text and the other explored expository text each expermint had two phases two major instruments were used to measure subjects comprehension and true fales test in the first phase of the experiment subjects were asked to read atext and then recall it freely in the second subjects were given two groups of questions to answer recall questions and true or fales question. |
