Abstract Thirty-nine total hip arthroplasties using the Exeter prosthesis were done in 34 patients at El-Hadra University Hospital during the period from March 1986 to February 1989. The youngest patient was 23 years old and the oldest was 81; the average age was 48.9 years. Secondary osteoarthritis was the indication of surgery in 74.1 ’/. While primary osteoarthrosis was the indication in 35.9X. Six hips had previous surgery and the contra-lateral hip was previously replaced in 3 patients. Fourteen patients had general diseases as ischaemic heart disease, diabetic nephropathy, hypertension and emphysema. |
