Abstract A total number of 276 balady laying hens were collected either alive or freshly dead from poultry farms and 54 intestinal tracts of balady hens collected from markets during the period extended from December 2002 till November 2004. The total incidence of infestation with helminthes was 42.5% among this the incidence of infestation with nematodes was 41.5% and cestodes was 3.63%, while the incidence of external parasites was 37.6%. from this summary, the seasonal dynamic showed the peak of helminth infestation was 50% in summer and the lowest in spring (36.7%) where the highest infestation rate with nematodes was detected in winter (4.7.6%) and lowest in spring (36.7%) while for cestodes, the highest was in autumn (5.55%) and lowest in spring (2%) and for external parasites the highest was in spring (47.5%) and lowest in winter. Four peaks of helminthes and arthropods are observed during March, June, September and December. So we can concluded that a prophylactic drug administration is recommended every three months in order to control the infection with such parasites. |
